The Journal

DENKART - Das E-Journal der Wiener Finno-Ugristik is published once a year as a trilingual (German, English, Hungarian) double-blind peer reviewed academic journal. The individual issues are dedicated to selected topics that facilitate interdisciplinary viewpoints in the context of Finno-Ugric literature studies and linguistics. The main goals of DENKART are:

While our focus is on literary and cultural studies - primarily in the field of Hungarian studies - in the spirit of transdisciplinarity, the journal is also open to thematically appropriate contributions from various neighboring disciplines. On the one hand, DENKART wants to contribute to networking within Finno-Ugric studies and beyond; on the other hand it is striving to become a leading scientific platform for Hungarian Studies. Its multilingualism will facilitate the international contextualization of the journal.

In addition to traditional scholarship (peer-reviewed scientific papers, reviews, conference reports, etc.), as a means to promote early-career (BA and MA-level) scholars of Hungarian and Finno-Ugric studies, we also offer a publication channel for contributions that will be proof-read and edited by the editorial team if necessary, but that will not be subject to peer review. These contributions will appear in an own “Young Voices” section.
