Österreichische Autorinnen als Wegbereiterinnen einer Kinder- und Jugendliteratur der DDR

Abstract

The following article asks about the significance of the Austrian authors for the following literatures and focuses on the beginnings of literature for children and young people in the GDR. With Alex Wedding and Auguste Lazar important pioneers of socialist children’s literature are presented, whose works formed part of the canon of children’s and youth literature in the GDR. Some were also anchored in the school canon. At the same time, carefully selected examples are used to show whether and how the authors influenced the further development of German children’s and youth literature.
