Abstract

Based on the model of the “Prologue“ and “The Story of the Inky Boys” from Heinrich Hoffmann’s Struwwelpeter , this vicious satire offers a picture of the societal, political and economical circumstances in the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy around 1872. The big stock market crash of 1873 was nearly (virtually) predicted.
