Abstract

The article delves into the life of Empress Margarita Teresa on her sixteenth birthday, pregnant with her first child with Emperor Leopoldo. Amidst royal rumors and diplomatic exchanges between Spanish, French, and Austrian courts, the pregnancy solidifies Margarita's position in the Viennese court. Despite public announcements, the true excitement arises days before the letter's composition when Margarita first feels her unborn child. Celebrations ensue, showcasing the warm bond between Margarita and Leopoldo, evident even in their private correspondence. The letter, penned in Spanish, demonstrates their intimate connection and diplomatic finesse. The unborn child serves as a mediator, conveying Margarita's wishes to Leopoldo.
