The following excerpt is from the travel diary of Emine Hanım, written between the
years 1916 and 1919, hence, during the First World War. The diary is titled “Avrupa
Seyahati Hatırası,” (“European Travel Memoirs”) and features various locations across
Europe to which Emine Hanım traveled during these years due to her husband Miralay
Celal Bey’s diplomatic mission.
