Call for Papers Issue 1 Volume 3 (2021)
Dear colleagues,
after the attention regime of the past few months, which was strictly focused on practical problems of the present, it is time to raise our gaze again and to re-orient it towards historical horizons. For this reason, Chronotopos invites all authors who are willing to reflect on the history, historiography and history of thought of translation to submit their contributions and thereby broaden our knowledge of the transcultural genesis of cultural realities as well as the possibilities of its academic reconstruction. However, this requires a diversity of perspectives and approaches. Just as translation can shake up cultural self-understandings and trigger self-reflection through the import of the foreign, so too can interdisciplinary exchange make disciplinary habits of thought recognizable as such and put them up for negotiation. Interdisciplinary translation processes are a prerequisite for successful descriptions of historical translation processes. In this sense, contributions from different disciplines and with different theoretical and methodological arsenals are expressly requested in order to initiate a dialogue between historical translation studies and its neighbours.
