With the ongoing open access-transformation, publishing in the academic system is changing significantly, bringing up new opportunities and challenges for editorial work. In addition to the increased appearance of open-access journals and related services, there is a diverse organization of initiatives that foster networking at various levels and organize policy demands in the sciences. The editorial network “OJSRed”, founded in 2022, has set itself the task of promoting the networking of editorial offices of open access journals in the DACH-region that are independent of publishers and work with Open Journal Systems (OJS). The primarily digital networking work enables learning with and from each other, which shows to be effective beyond the editorial level and proves to be a useful resource within the open access-transformation.
