Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

Author Guidelines

Requirements for publication

In addition to the research article, which should substantially contribute to the field of Library and Information Studies, the following types of contributions are eligible for submission: editorial, interview, report, event report, personalia, review, communication, and event announcement. The submitted manuscripts or substantial parts of them may not have been published or submitted for publication elsewhere. The content presentation as a short version at a conference or pre-print is not considered a pre-publication.

Design of the manuscripts

The manuscripts should be submitted in German and/or English. The scope should be between 1,000 and 5,000 words. Longer contributions are possible after consultation.

In addition, the manuscripts should contain an abstract with approx. 100-150 words. Furthermore, the author should specify suitable keywords.

The manuscript should be clearly arranged. The headings of the main sections should be as short as possible. The literature cited in the text must be clear and understandable in the bibliography. Authors can freely choose the citation style.

Figure/image/graphics files should have one of the following formats: TIFF or BMP (lossless bitmap formats); GIF or PNG (compressed bitmap formats) for graphs, JPG (compressible bitmap format) for photographs. Even though the figures/images/graphics are embedded in the text, they should also be submitted as separate files with a unique file name.

All figures, illustrations, graphics, and tables should also be accompanied by an alternative text (for blind and visually impaired readers) (see e.g. https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alt-Text).

The editors attach particular importance to gender-appropriate wording of the submitted contributions and reserve the right to make any necessary edits in this respect.

The following information should appear at the end of the manuscript:

  • First name(s) Last name(s), academic degree(s)
  • ORCID-iD (if available)
  • Affiliation (if available)
  • E-mail address

In the case of publication, the authors grant the right to unlimited storage in databases, dissemination, and reproduction of the contribution in electronic and printed form.
