Polyphonie und Intermedialität – und Literatur als Zeugnis

Abstract

Der Beitrag geht von der Prämisse aus, dass Literatur, wenn man von einer ,stummen‘ Referenzlogik absieht, Intermedialität inhärent ist, sowohl in supponierter als auch in realisierter Form. Besonders Literatur, die sich visuell versteht, verweist aufs Akustische. Previšić geht in der Folge auf die Begriffsgeschichte der Polyphonie – eine primär sprachliche Kategorie – ein und befragt die Zusammenhänge zu intermedialen Phänomenen. Dabei greift er auf Roman Jakobsons Kommunikationsmodell zurück und sucht polyphone Erzählstrukturen in der ,testimonialen Literatur‘ auf, etwa in Melinda Nadj Abonjis Roman Schildkrötensoldat (2017).

Polyphony and Intermediality – and Literature as a Testimony: The contribution starts from the assumption that, disregarding a 'mute' logic of reference, intermediality is inherent to literature, in the supposed as well as in the realized form. Literature that sees itself as visual in particular refers to the acoustic dimension. Boris Previšić also discusses the conceptual history of polyphony – a primarily linguistic category – and analyzes connections to intermedial phenomena, falling back on Roman Jakobson's model of communication and visiting polyphonous narrative structures in 'testimonial literature', for instance in Melinda Nadj Abonji's novel Schildkrötensoldat (Tortoise Soldier, 2017).
