Pulp Novel Series and Loan Books from Austria after 1945

Abstract

A systematic appraisal of the development and impact of the pulp genre is still lacking for Austria. The present contribution aims to initiate it, promoting at the same time a serious study of 'trivial' entertainment formats, which not only allow to show everyday media practices and their influence on human imagination, but also the confrontation with public moral concepts. The contribution provides a first and extensive insight into pulp novel series and loan books published in Austria after 1945.
