  • Keshif

    Micro-Edition Call

Deadline for Every Winter Issue: 5 December

Deadline for Every Summer Issue: 5 June

Ottoman Studies is a manuscript science, and all scholars who work on manuscripts know this situation: one "discovers" (Turkish keşif means "discovery") accidentally short texts in manuscripts--single poems, letters, contracts, and marginal notes of different, often private matters. Individually and by themselves, these discoveries are often only small pieces of the mosaic, fascinating and too good to ignore, but on the other hand of too little substance for publication on their own.

By founding the journal Keshif, we aim to fulfill a desideratum that has long been keenly felt in scholarly circles for the treatment of precisely these kinds of texts.

Our vision for Keshif is to provide a forum (and medium) for researchers to make these fragments accessible to a wider audience, including non-Ottomanists, i.e. to bring together the many pieces of the mosaic, such that complete pictures gradually emerge. Keshif is an electronic journal dedicated to collecting and editing small, fine texts and providing easy, free access to the material through a database with sound search functions.

As it seems that the article submissions continue to increase in number, we cannot fit all of them into the issues to which they are submitted, even if we receive them before the deadline. Thus, we politely would like to make it clear that we can take up to twelve articles per issue and at times may have to postpone the publication of articles until the next issue.

    Open Access Statement

Keshif is an open-access journal, which means all its content is freely available without charge to the user or his/her institution. Keshif provides open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge. Keshif operates under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License. This allows others to distribute, remix, tweak, and build upon the work, even commercially, as long as they credit the authors for the original creation. All authors publishing in KESHIF accept these as the terms of publication.

It publishes articles on working with media, especially in schools, in other pedagogical fields as well as from all areas of media educational research, on art and culture, education and politics and pedagogical materials.
