Abstract

The introduction of basic digital education as a compulsory subject in Austria as of the 2022/23 school year is welcomed by many and viewed skeptically by some. These assessments correspond to widespread moods in the context of digital, media and social transformation processes. What could be more obvious than to address these ambivalent dynamics in basic digital education? The article describes a meta-concept regarding the question of a "digital climate change" and is suitable as a nucleus of crystallization for multifaceted tasks in basic digital education.
