Abstract

What makes an exhibit auratic? Do historical perspectives in exhibitions tend to create distance from, or interest in, the subject matter? How can intensities and force fields arise in exhibition constellations? And how can a broad, diverse audience with very different emotional and rational expectations and attitudes towards museums be addressed? These are some of the questions discussed in this interview with the philosopher and exhibition curator Daniel Tyradellis. The aim of this contribution is to critically examine the current useological assumption that a new affective curatorship is emerging in museums and exhibitions in the West.
