COVID-19 – Working in crisis

Abstract

This issue of the “Communications of the Association of Austrian Librarians” (Mitteilungen der VÖB) takes a closer look at the impact the pandemic had on the library system. COVID-19 has been seen by various sides as an opportunity, a challenge, as disillusioning or a novelty that brought uncertainty. No one was unaffected by this virus. For some it was considered a long-overdue push for digitalisation, for others it revealed how very intertwined their work was with printed matter. This current issue takes a closer look at what COVID-19 meant for (academic) activities, individual libraries and staff.
