The paper tries to systematize the literature about intellectuals, scholars, and scientists who were forced out of their native countries by the Nazi in the 1930s. By using a two dimensional analytic scheme the paper distinguishes on the subject dimension between contributions focusing on individuals, small groups, scientific disciplines, and ethno-religious communities, or collectives defined by their nation-state. The second dimensions differentiate between several aggregates, ranging from »ego«, »she/he«, »we«, »ours«, »they«, »and (they) all« The author demonstrates that the publications did not show a trajectory of progress.
