Abstract

The authors draft the short history of ergonomics, i.e. of the scientific-technical shaping of the points of contact between man and machine. From the point of view of history, an increase from a motor interaction towards a sensory communication can be seen. Development and application of ergonomically designed machines was carried out first in the public and semi-public sectors of the military forces, industrial companies etc., before they spread - in the shape of videos, personal computers and hifis - into our private sphere.
