Abstract

With the conclusions from two previous workshops, which dealt with the models for and competencies of data stewards, the “FAIR Data Austria” project staff met again for another workshop in July 2021 to discuss training programmes for data stewards at Austrian universities. For this purpose, four training programmes were presented by one participant each and then analysed and evaluated in individual group work according to their strengths and weaknesses, both concerning the suitability of the entire training for the models and the individual focal points/modules within the courses. This workshop showed that none of the courses examined is suitable to cover a model completely when it comes to imparting the desired competencies. The analysis resulted in recommendations of the training courses for specific models, which will now be used together with the previous project results in developing a self-assessment tool for model selection for research institutions.
