„No man can resist her. All men should.”
Sirenen im Horrorfilm

Sirens as an image for a threatening form of femininity have been in film since its beginnings. While in early film they represent dangerous seduction in the figurative sense in connection with the femme fatale and the vamp, they become literal female monsters in the horror film with reference to Carol Clover and Barbara Creed. Using exemplary examples from the last decade (Mamula, SiREN, and Córki Dancingu), this article shows how the mythological figure of the siren lives on in the modern horror film and there - at least for the length of a feature film - challenges social orders.
