This volume uses the example of women’s movements and feminisms from the end of the nineteenth to the second half of the twentieth century to discuss the interweaving of political strategies and epistemic practices. The diachronic histories of movements are analysed synchronously and placed in a transnational context. The contributions examine practices of knowledge transfer both transnationally and between movements and academia, focusing on different peripheries to analyse the production of global knowledge through political engagement. They not only enable new narratives that transcend the diachronic narratives of the history of women’s movements but also emphasize the significant relevance of these histories of movements for the history of knowledge and political history.
