The pleasure of constructing is, so to speak, born in the cradle, because even babies enjoy stacking things, putting them together, combining them and creating something new. No wonder then that this form of playing is also found in the digital world. A very popular form of "digital building" are construction games in which cities are designed from the ground up. Such games demand and promote many skills. In the first half of 2019, the BuPP (Federal Agency for the Positive Qualification of Digital Games in the Federal Chancellery) recommended three town-building games that differ greatly in their complexity: Anno 1800, Islander and Pocket City. A comparison of these three games as well as possible uses in the media pedagogical context are presented in this article.
