Abstract

In the 1980s, Art Spiegelman's comic MAUS set an important course both in comics research and in the study of the Holocaust. This English-language conference volume by the Centre for Jewish Studies at the University of Graz takes the milestone as its starting point and deals with the specific representation of the Holocaust in comics in different temporal, geographical and thematic contexts: from the use of comics in history lessons to the third generation's approach to the topic, from German-speaking/European to non-European examples, the volume thus provides a broad panorama of exciting contributions.
