The introduction of basic digital education as a compulsory subject in Austria as of the 2022/23 school year is welcomed by many and viewed skeptically by some. These assessments correspond to widespread moods in the context of digital, media and social transformation processes. The article describes a meta-concept regarding the question of a "digital climate change" and is suitable as a nucleus of crystallization for multifaceted tasks in basic digital education.
