In the school year 2017/18 basic digital education was offered as non-binding exercise in Austrian schools at secondary level 1. Now the subject shall be introduced as mandatory subject. Up to now, the professional qualification of teachers has taken place mainly through further education and training. This article addresses the question, how far media-pedagogical dimensions were considered in the conception of further education and training for digital education by teacher training colleges.
