Ray Bradbury's (1920-2012) novel Fahrenheit 451, a classic of the Science Fiction genre published in 1953, made literary history with its warning against the excesses of totalitarianism. A state controls its citizens, who, distracted by TV series, war and mismanagement, lead a “happy” life and denounce dissidents. Books may contain subversive ideas and are therefore burned. A small group dares to rebel against the system, including a former book burner. Bradbury's novel has been called the “ultimate defense of literature”. Víctor Santos' comic adaptation reinterprets the timeless text, knowing that nothing has to be added to the original message.
