Abstract

This article introduces the concept of Digital Agency. Digital Agency (DA) deals not only with knowledge and skills but also with the dimensions of self-confidence and responsibility in dealing with digital artifacts. Digital agency is described as the ability to control and adapt to digital contexts. This article acknowledges the expansion of the concept of digital competences and, at the same time, presents two key gaps for discussion. First, we show that the basic theoretical foundation and location of the concept is not yet sufficiently elaborated and justified. Second, it becomes clear that feminist and intersectional dimensions have not been addressed in the DA concept so far. We conclude by presenting possible theoretical points of contact and further research and development questions.
