Abstract

Venice in Vienna in 1895 represented a very special form of ephemeral architecture. In her dissertation, Ingrid Erb not only deals with the background to the construction, but also shows how such temporary buildings influence the development of new spatial concepts and spatial conditions and to what extent they are suitable for trying out technical as well as architectural innovations. All this against the background of the awakening in art and science, as well as the change in social demands and values in the age of industrialization.
