Abstract

In their impressive book Der letzte Tag des Howard Phillips Lovecraft (The Last Day of Howard Phillips Lovecraft), Romuald Giulivo and Jakub Rebelka speculate on the difficult life and complex work of this writer, who has become a literary classic. In doing so, the two artists succeed in tying in with the atmosphere of Lovecraft's work and at the same time presenting an independent contribution to the examination of this writer, who has been very influential in a wide variety of disciplines and media right up to the present day. This volume reflects inter-media references with great ease and does not omit problematic aspects of Lovecraft's biography and literary concepts. It is not least these qualities that make Der letzte Tag des Howard Phillips Lovecraft a publication that could also be used in sophisticated teaching.
