Abstract

The shift from the digital divide to the AI gap in the context of higher education highlights the growing importance of AI literacy as a new measure of educational equity. It highlights different aspects of educational inequality and highlights AI literacy as a critical dimension that encompasses technical skills and critical understanding. This literacy includes the ability to understand, use and critically reflect on AI systems. The potential impact of generative AI on teaching and learning processes is discussed, including personalised learning environments and new didactic methods. Both opportunities and risks are considered, such as the possibility of improved problem solving through co-intelligence, but also the danger of AI hallucinations.
